AI FINDS THEM. THE OFFICIAL REGISTER CONFIRMS THEM.
Prospecting.Business is AI-powered — and where it matters most, the AI's findings are checked against official records. Every UK lead is looked up on Companies House, the UK government's official company register, and leads with a confirmed match carry a registry-verified badge. This page explains exactly how your leads are built, step by step, and what happens when something can't be verified.
THE PIPELINE
From your website to a verified lead.
Website analysis: we read your website
Everything starts with your positioning. We analyse your website copy to understand what you sell, who you sell it to, and what your ideal customer profile looks like. No guessing about your market — your own words define it. The steps below describe how we build and verify leads from that analysis. For direct industry search — where you query Companies House by SIC code without a website analysis — the register returns its own fields (company name, number, incorporation date, address) directly; the AI discovery and contact-generation steps below do not apply to those results.
AI FINDS CANDIDATE COMPANIES
Our AI engine searches for real, named companies that match your profile. At this stage they are candidates, not leads — every UK candidate then goes through the registry checks below, and the outcome is shown on the lead so you know exactly what was confirmed.
CHECKED AGAINST COMPANIES HOUSE
Each UK candidate is looked up in Companies House — the UK government's official register of companies — through their live API. When a match is found, we confirm the registered company name, that the company has active status on the register (not dissolved or in liquidation), its registered office address, and its listed directors. Only companies with a confirmed active match carry the Companies House verified badge — a lead without the badge has no registry confirmation behind it.
Contacts grounded in real sources
Where a registry match exists, contact names are grounded in Companies House director records. Email addresses are only labelled as verified when they are found on the company's own website and the domain's mail records check out — otherwise they are shown as best estimates.
HONEST LABELS ON CONTACT DETAILS
Contact names and email addresses carry source labels, and matched companies carry the registry-verified badge. Where a contact field is our AI's best estimate — for example a suggested email pattern we could not confirm — it is labelled as an estimate. Descriptive fields such as the company summary and fit reasoning are AI-generated analysis and should be read as such.
THE REGISTER
What "Companies House verified" means.
Companies House is the United Kingdom's official registrar of companies. Every limited company in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland must be registered there by law, and its public record is the authoritative source on whether a company is registered and holds active status — not dissolved or in liquidation.
- 01
REGISTERED NAME
The lead matches a real registered company — not a name the AI invented.
- 02
Active status
The company has active status on the official register. Dissolved or liquidated companies are rejected automatically.
- 03
REGISTERED ADDRESS
The address on the lead is the registered office address from the official record, preferred over any AI-sourced address.
- 04
DIRECTORS
Listed company directors from the register are used to ground decision-maker contact names.
HONESTY POLICY
WHAT WE DON'T CLAIM.
Not every UK lead gets a registry match. If a company can't be confidently matched on the register — or the register is temporarily unavailable — the lead is still delivered, but without the verified badge, so you can see at a glance which leads carry registry backing and which don't.
Non-UK companies are not registry-checked. Companies House only covers the UK. Leads from other countries are AI-researched and labelled accordingly — they do not carry registry verification.
Estimates are labelled as estimates. Where an email address or contact name could not be confirmed against a published source, it is shown as a best estimate, so you always know the confidence level before you reach out.
Data is not refreshed automatically. Registry data reflects the official record at the time of your analysis — or your most recent refresh. Companies dissolve and details change, so every lead shows when it was last verified, and any completed search can be re-verified on demand with the paid refresh option: each lead is re-checked against Companies House and its contact details re-verified, and companies no longer active on the register are flagged. We recommend refreshing older searches before important outreach.
Verify before you rely. As with any prospecting data, we recommend a final sense-check before important outreach.
