Getting the most from Prospecting.Business

Everything you need to find, review, and reach out to qualified B2B leads — from your first analysis to exporting a contact list.

Getting started

Prospecting.Business works by reading your website to understand what you sell and who you sell it to. It then generates a list of real, named companies that match that profile — along with a decision-maker contact, address, phone number where available, and a personalised outreach email ready to send.

No spreadsheets to upload, no lists to buy, and no sales call required to get started.

1

Create your free account

Click Start free on the homepage and sign up with your email or Google account. No credit card is needed.

2

Go to your dashboard

After signing in you land on your dashboard — the central hub for all your analyses. It shows your current plan, how many leads you have used this month, and a list of every analysis you have run.

3

Run your first analysis

Click New analysis and paste your company website URL. The system reads your site, builds your ideal customer profile, and finds matching leads.

Your first analysis

When you start a new analysis, the platform goes through three stages:

Website analysis

We read your website copy to understand your product, market, and ideal customer.

Lead generation

We find real companies that match your profile and identify the best decision-maker to contact.

UK verification

UK companies are cross-referenced against Companies House to confirm active trading status and registered details.

The whole process typically takes under a minute. You can watch the status update in real time on the session page.

Fresh every time

Every new analysis automatically filters out companies that appeared in your previous analyses, so you always receive genuinely fresh prospects. The lead card shows how many were filtered when this happens.

Search by industry

As well as website analysis, you can search the live Companies House register directly by industry. This is useful when you already know which sector you want to target — you pick a SIC code rather than letting the AI infer your market from your website.

Pick your industries

Type an industry name or SIC code in the search box on the dashboard and select up to five. The full UK SIC 2007 list is built in — 730 codes covering every sector.

Not sure where to start?

Enter your own website in the "Suggest industries" box and AI will estimate which SIC codes fit your business. These are clearly labelled as estimates — always check they match what you actually sell.

Filter your search

Narrow results by incorporation date range or postcode area before searching. Useful for finding younger companies or prospects in a specific region.

Live register results

Results come directly from the Companies House register — active companies only. The first page of results is shown for every account.

Industry search vs website analysis

Industry search gives you active companies in a sector — registered name, number, incorporation date, and address from the official record. It does not generate AI-matched leads, decision-maker contacts, or personalised outreach emails; those are produced by website analysis. The two methods are independent: use whichever fits your starting point — a website URL or a target sector.

You can browse all UK SIC codes on the UK SIC code directory, grouped by section A–U, with a searchable index.

Reading your leads

Each lead card contains everything you need to research, qualify, and contact a prospect.

Company name & website — The company and a direct link to their site so you can do your own research before reaching out.

Description — A concise summary of what the company does — useful for personalising your approach.

Why they fit — A specific reason why this company matches your ideal customer profile, referencing their industry, size, or known challenges.

Industry & employee range — Quick-reference filters to help you prioritise who to contact first.

Companies House badge — UK companies that were matched against the national register show a verified badge along with their registration number, incorporation date, active status, and registered directors.

Contact & address details

Each lead includes contact information to support both digital and physical outreach:

Decision-maker contact

The name and title of the most relevant person to approach, along with a best-estimate professional email. For UK companies where directors are on the public register, verified officers are shown instead.

Address

For verified UK companies, the registered address comes directly from Companies House. For other companies it is AI-estimated from publicly available information. Use this to send hard-copy letters or direct mail.

Phone & mobile

Main company telephone and decision-maker mobile where publicly known. These are AI-estimated from public data — always verify before calling.

About estimated fields

Contact email addresses, phone numbers, and mobile numbers are AI-generated best estimates based on publicly available patterns and data. They are intended as a starting point — always verify contact details through the company's own website or LinkedIn before sending.

Outreach emails

Every lead includes a fully drafted cold outreach email, personalised to the specific company and decision-maker. The email:

  • Addresses the contact by first name
  • References the lead company's specific industry or likely pain points
  • Explains how your product solves those pain points
  • Closes with a low-friction call to action
  • Includes your sender details if you have set them in Account settings

Use the Copy button on each email to paste it directly into your email client, CRM, or outreach tool. You can then personalise it further before sending.

Sender profile

Go to Account settings → Sender profile and enter your name, title, and company. Every outreach email will then close with your details automatically, so you don't have to fill them in manually on every lead.

Exporting leads

Starter and Pro subscribers can export the full lead list from any analysis to a CSV file, ready to import into a CRM, spreadsheet, or mail-merge tool.

The export includes: company name, website, industry, employee range, description, fit reason, address, phone, mobile, and the full outreach email for every lead.

Click the Export CSV button at the top of any completed analysis to download the file. The file is UTF-8 encoded with a BOM, so accented characters and currency symbols display correctly in Excel.

Tips for better results

Be specific on your homepage

The clearer your website is about what you sell and who you sell it to, the more precisely the AI can target your leads. Vague or general positioning produces broader, less useful results.

Set your sender profile

Adding your name, title, and company in Account settings means every outreach email is already signed off correctly, saving you editing time on every lead.

Run multiple analyses

Each analysis is independent. Run analyses on the same URL across different months to keep getting fresh prospects — previously seen companies are filtered out automatically.

Try different source URLs

If you have a product page, a landing page, or a case study that describes your ICP more specifically than your homepage, try running an analysis on that URL instead.

Personalise before sending

The drafted emails are a strong starting point but a quick edit — mentioning something specific you noticed about the company — significantly improves response rates.

Verify before calling

Phone numbers and email addresses are AI-estimated. Always cross-check on the company's own website or LinkedIn before reaching out, especially for phone outreach.
